Sarah's Applesauce

Who is Sarah you ask? I have no idea, but she makes darn good applesauce- that's for sure. My husband is really less than thrilled.  He likes his apples in pie form.  I, however hate making pies.  It's really the crust that bothers me..and takes foeeevverrr.  A lady that volunteers in the nursery at church on Sundays with me told me she makes a ton of applesauce every year and then freezes it in separate servings.  Great idea!  I found this incredibly simple recipe on  It has only 4 ingredients, including apples and water, and it take only 20 minutes not including the peeling and chopping.  Here you go:

4 Apples (peeled, cored and chopped)
3/4 C Water
1/4 C Sugar - (I put a little less.)
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
Throw it all in a pot and simmer about 20 mins.  Mush up apple pieces with a fork if there are any that didn't cook down all the way. - I left mine a little chunky.

If you want to freeze a bunch I would double or triple the recipe.

  1. So weird that you posted this. I just made the same recipe for my daughter as part of the BRAT diet since she was sick. Unfortunately, she took one taste and would not put anymore in her mouth. I thought it was pretty good and I don't even like applesauce!
